Trailborn Hotel in the Rocky Mountains.

Located just outside the hustle and bustle of downtown Estes Park, Colorado, this small boutique hotel has a lot to offer while being close to all the Rocky Mountain activities you'd expect when visiting a national park. My wife and I spent the weekend at Trailborn Rocky Mountains the first weekend of March and had the pleasure of getting the true Colorado experience with snow, deer, elk & coyotes.

A quick drive from Denver allowed us to check in & get settle into our room. Our room was a King Suite, simple & functional with a nice sitting space, coffee area with fridge. A beautiful walk in shower that was large enough for someone who may need a wheelchair. The Huck instant coffee was delicious and I'll be honest in saying the way the water heats up for the coffee was very cool. I had never seen this set up before & it was super easy to use.

After waking up from a good nights rest and enjoying some Huck coffee, it was time to head into the park and see what we could. Less than 10 min to the park entrance was very nice & made for easy access. We spent the morning in the park enjoying the animals and views even though it was snowing. I think that made the experience that much better. As the mountains played peek a boo with the clouds and snow we drove from Sheeps Lake area to Moraine Park and then up to Bear Lake. Plowed roads made the journey easy thanks the the crew in Rocky Mountain NP. After leaving the park we went to St. Malo's (Cathedral on the Rocks) to see it in the snow too!

With a quick & delicious lunch from Cousin Pat's Pub & Grill, with mountain views, we had plenty of time walk around town in the snow and burn off lunch before heading back to Trailborn to enjoy our dinner at Casa Colina which is located inside the lobby of the hotel.

Back at Casa Colina, we enjoyed fresh poured margaritas, street tacos, salads, chips & salsa along with house made cilantro, lime, avocado dip. Truly an experience for the taste buds. This was one of the things I really liked about the hotel. After a long day out in the park or shopping it was nice to have dinner and drinks right at the hotel where you're staying. The convenience factor was very appealing to me. Andrew was our server and did a fantastic job with the food and drinks. He is also the one in charge of the food & beverage so he makes sure all the ingredients are at a very high standard and cooked properly. He and his team did a great job to make us feel welcome and wanting to come back.

During dinner we met up with Jessica who runs Small Town Stops and her friend Kristin. Her travel blog is amazing and a wealth of information depending on where in this world you want to travel. If you've got a trip coming up, be sure to check out her site as she may have something on there for your destination. Right on time, as dinner was ending the snow was starting to fall. What could be a better way to end a great evening in the rocky mountains than around a warm fire, in the snow, with s'mores. Traiborn has complimentary s'mores and a fire each night just outside the dining area. The s'mores come in a nice little set which makes them easy to carry and assemble once around the fire. We talked about our travels, where we are off to next and once place that peaked my interest was when she said they were going to visit Owl Cafes in Japan where you can have coffee with Owls... I'm very much looking forward to that review from her!

The lobby at Trailborn is very inviting and offers large windows for nice light and views. In the morning with your coffee or in the evening with a drink at the bar, this area is very comfortable to mingle with friends and new acquaintances.

Trailborn's breakfast was just as delicious at the dinner. I wish I would have ate a bit more to help give a better breakfast review. I had the burritos, my wife had the overnight oats. Needless to say the smaller bites were filled with flavor and the perfect way to start the day!

As you can see here, the avocado/lime/cilantro dip goes just as good on breakfast food as it did with dinner!

Trailorn Rocky Mountain is kid/pet friendly and they do have a pool! Cafe Colina will fully open during Frozen Dead Guy Days (March 14th-17th). Located at the base of Rocky Mountain National Park so close to everything and just outside of town enough to get a nice quiet nights sleep, Trailborn offers something for everyone, from the shoppers to the ones who want to climb 14'ers, you just can't go wrong with your stay at Trailborn.

Trailborn is the perfect spot for a weekend getaway from Denver or if you're traveling from out of state! Enjoy!

Thanks to everyone who made our weekend so much more enjoyable -
